Celebrating Our Chairperson & Preparing for the Next Chapter

Since 2022, it has been my enormous privilege to serve as Chair of Connecting Foster & Kinship Carers SA. As my three year term comes to an end, CF&KC-SA will soon begin the recruitment process for a new Chairperson—an important opportunity to build on our strong governance foundations and continue the organisation’s proud tradition of carer-led leadership.

Serving as Chair of CF&KC-SA has been one of the most meaningful roles of my life. I have been constantly inspired by the organisation’s work—both at the grassroots and systemic level—to amplify the voices of carers and advocate for the support they so rightly deserve.

There are many highlights from my time on the Board, but a few stand out: witnessing the first cohort of First Nations carers graduate from the Bradford Institute training program, hearing directly from carers at roundtables and AGMs, and collaborating closely with our CEO to push forward our systemic advocacy with government and key stakeholders.

CF&KC-SA has grown from a grassroots movement to a recognised and respected peak body. This evolution has required an incredible level of commitment from our small but mighty team—particularly our CEO, Fiona Endacott. I want to acknowledge the tireless dedication of our staff, who consistently go above and beyond to support carers, often in deeply challenging circumstances.

Over the past three years, I’ve also been proud to witness the Board’s growth in maturity, capacity, and composition. Today, we are a strong, skills-based Board with a proud foundation of lived experience—our members continue to be, first and foremost, carers. I am confident that the governance of CF&KC-SA is in excellent hands moving forward.

To all the carers I have met along the way—thank you. Your stories, courage, and unwavering dedication continue to fuel the mission of CF&KC-SA. It has been a profound honour to serve you.

Together, we will continue to ensure every carer in South Australia is heard, valued, and supported.
