Carer Council Member

Dana is a kinship carer to her grandson and a registered nurse who has worked with children in acute and community services over the past 40 years.
Emily-Rose Fullerton
Carer Council Member

Emily is regional-based kinship carer approved as a specialist carer. Emily is a strong advocate for her six children, including one who requires 24/7 care due to high medical needs. Emily is also a passionate artist.
Gail Ward
Carer Council Member

Gail is a long-term guardian (kinship carer) who is currently registered as a beyond kin carer to provide respite foster care. Gail is a full-time parent who holds a Bachelor of Education (Junior Primary/Primary) / Bachelor of Science. Gail volunteers with a local community group to run events to promote community connection and wellbeing.
Jakob Schmaal
Carer Council Member
Kob is both a foster and kinship carer, and an Indigenous man of the Luritja, Ngaurabanna, and Yankanjatjara Nations.
James Hemphill
Carer Council Member

James and his husband are specialist foster carers for two children. Professionally, he is secondary school science and mathematics teacher with a passion for STEM education, student leadership development and creating inclusive spaces within schools.
Kerry Rochford
Carer Council Member

Kerry and her husband have been kinship carers for just over 12 years, caring for varying numbers of their five grandchildren throughout this time. Kerry is a regional-based carer who worked in education prior to her caring role and is a practicing artist specializing in textile art.
Lisa Petersen
Carer Council Member

Lisa is a long-term foster carer who has been caring for almost 2 years. Outside of her caring role Lisa has worked in the Human Services for almost a decade, including working with children in out of home care, supporting kinship carers, child protection diversionary and child and family support programs.
Lorraine Joy
Carer Council Chair
Lorraine is a specialist foster carer of over 10 years and the inaugural Carer Council Chair. Lorraine is passionate about ‘caring for carers’ and participates in a variety of systemic advocacy opportunities and support groups, including facilitating the Grief and Transition Group at Connecting Foster & Kinship Carers SA.
Peter Kennedy
Carer Council Member

Peter is a respite foster carer and ex-police officer from the Riverland. Peter and his wife Deb provide respite to over 30 children and young people in their region and have had a variety of short-term placements in their time as carers.
Tiani Harris
Carer Council Member
Tiani is Barossa Valley regional-based foster carer who provides long-term, respite and emergency care to children and young people. With training in youth work and community services, Tiani is on a journey to bring more awareness to the mental health and wellbeing of carers and promoting the needs to support and manage compassion fatigue, burnout, and normalising self care as essential part of being a carer. Tiani is passionate about bringing change to the stigma around carer burnout and aiming for a system that proactively protects the mental wellbeing of carers and young people in their care.
Verity Jaensch
Carer Council Member
Verity is a specialist kinship carer of seven years and a tutor training carers in the Diploma for Community Services at the Bradford Institute of Advanced Education. Verity has extensive experience in the banking industry, where she worked as a manager prior to her caring role.
