Freedom of Information Carer Guide

This guide is intended to assist Foster and Kinship Carers (Carers) understand the Freedom of Information application and review processes.

The Freedom of Information Carer Guide has been updated in February 2023 to provide further detail about the application process as follows:

• how to apply for an FOI;
• how the Department processes an FOI application, including timeframes and what makes an application fit within their scope, and
• how to appeal a refused FOI application

Carers should note that the application fee has been increased from $35 to $39, a fee waiver is still available on the basis of financial hardship.
