NEW Carer Guide: Review of decisions

Connecting Foster & Kinship Carers – SA Inc (CF&KC-SA) is celebrating the full implementation of the Children and Young People (Safety) Act 2017 (SA) (Act) today and the improved legal rights of foster and kinship carers (Carers).

Carers in South Australia are entitled to seek a review of a decision of the Chief Executive, Department for Child Protection or a child protection officer under the Act.

There are certain steps which must be taken for a review to occur and short timeframes to be met. CF&KC-SA’s Carer Advocacy Service can help Carers to navigate the processes, understand their responsibilities and offer Carer families ongoing support when seeking a review of decisions.

Our Carer Guide: Review of decisions outlines the relevant section of the Act, the decisions which may be subject of a review, how to go about seeking an internal review and an external review, together with some suggestions of how to prepare for a review.
